At The Parallel Exchange, you have full control over your personal data. This page explains what data we collect, how you can access or modify it, and how to request deletion.
Data We Collect
Account Information
Email address, display name, profile photo, cover photo, and bio. Used to identify you and display your profile to other users.
Location Preferences
Your ZIP code and search radius. Used to show you relevant nearby listings. We do not track your precise GPS location.
Listings
Item titles, descriptions, images, categories, and what you're looking for in exchange. Visible to other users in the marketplace.
Messages
Conversations with other users about potential trades. Messages are private between you and the other user.
Ratings and Reviews
Ratings and comments you give or receive after completing trades. Used to build trust within the community.
How to Modify Your Data
You can update most of your personal information directly within the app:
- Open The Parallel Exchange app on your device
- Go to your Profile tab and tap Edit Profile to update your display name, bio, profile photo, and cover photo
- Go to Settings and tap Location Settings to update your ZIP code and search radius
- Go to My Listings to edit or delete any of your listings
How to Delete Your Data
You can permanently delete your account and all associated data directly from the app. This action is irreversible.
- Open the app and go to the Profile tab
- Tap the Settings icon (gear icon)
- Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account
- Confirm your decision in the dialog that appears
When you delete your account, the following data is permanently removed:
- Your profile information (name, email, photo, bio)
- All your listings and associated images
- Your message history
- Your ratings and trade history
- Your location preferences
How Your Data is Used and Shared
- Providing the service: Your profile, listings, and ratings are displayed to other users so they can find and evaluate potential trades.
- Local discovery: Your ZIP code is used to match you with nearby listings. It is not displayed publicly to other users.
- Communication: Messages are stored to provide chat history between you and other users.
- No selling of data: We never sell your personal information to third parties, advertisers, or data brokers.
- No tracking: We do not use tracking technologies to follow your activity outside of The Parallel Exchange.
